Michelle Culp of Oklahoma sent us this photo of her Thoroughbred,"Trailode", who was adopted from ReRun last year.
"Just thought I'd send you a picture at Henry's first show. His show name is O'Henry. He is the greatest. I just love him so much!"
Have you adopted a horse from us recently? If so, ReRun would love to hear from you. This page is dedicated to adopters sharing stories about their ReRun horse and show their new "off the track" lives with photos. We are hoping it will encourage others to adopt a Thoroughbred and experience what joy they can bring to one's life.
Pictured here at a recent show is "Ishkabibble" and his adopted person, Roxanne Ellingsworth from Texas.
"I adopted Ishkabibble from Rerun a little over a year and a half ago. He is the BEST horse I have ever owned. 2007 was our first year of showing and not only did we win our division for the year, but we won high point champion of the entire horse show association!"
"I get so many compliments on him and tell everyone to contact Rerun for the chance to get a diamond in the rough like I did. I would adopt from ReRun again, I trust them. They have the horse and rider's best interest at heart. Thank you Rerun for the sweetest horse ever!"
This is "Blazing Basque" with his adopter Liz Marconi. Liz adopted him from ReRun 10 years ago and nicknamed him "Willie".
"Willie is just the greatest horse. I've been so lucky to have him. When I first went off to college I let a girl and her mother take care of him for a few weeks on a conditional lease basis, but I just couldn't do it, I couldn't give up control and let someone else take care of him. So, needless to say, that didn't last long and I found a place close to school to keep him. He's at home with me now and I'm never letting him go if I can help it."
"He's getting on in years now, but I had him in the cross-ties the other night while I was cleaning stalls and looked over at him and still thought to myself, gosh what a beautiful horse."
"My Skirt Chaser" was adopted by Ashley Price of Winchester, KY.
"Here is a picture of our wonderful guy. He is getting set to go on a trailride, with his new best friend, my Mother In Law, Kathy Sheshull. He has brought us so much joy in the short 2 1/2 months that he has been here, and our entire family and extended family has fallen in love with him.
Thank you both so much for the opportunity to bring such a fantastic guy into our lives!"
"I adopted "Silky Gold" from Rerun in July of 2000. Even though we have had our ups and downs, she is my best friend. It is often the difficult horses that have the most to teach us, and Silky has taught me more about riding in the last 7 1/2 years than any other horse I have ever ridden.Silky knows she's hot stuff and she likes showing off in the field. She is everything a Thoroughbred should be, exquisite, graceful, free spirited, athletic and proud and she has found herself a forever home with me.. I could not thank Rerun enough for giving me the opportunity to adopt such an amazing, beautiful, sweet horse. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect horse."

"Uncle Louie", adopted from ReRun in 2005, is seen here with his mom Ashley Gatlin. Louie is 7 years old and lives with his family in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Adopted in 2006, "Call Seven" is seen here schooling with his adopter Kirsten Ohlson of Princeton Junction, NJ.
"Good Golly Gertie" is seen here with her adopted person, Jennifer Hand of Florence, Alabama.
The "red headed blessing", as her mom calls her, is a cousin to this year's Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner, Big Brown. Gertie was adopted from ReRun in 2005 and is now 11 years old.
Adopted from our New York chapter in August, "Thunder Jam" is now a companion to Susan Wallahora's other gelding "Andy". The pair reside in Columbus, NC. Thunder Jam's new nickname is "Chloe". (Andy is the bay and Chloe is the white mare in the photo above.)
"I wanted you to know how well Chloe has settled in. She absolutely adores Andy, and I can't thank her enough for that. She is one of the kindest horses I have ever been around.
The only time she's not happy is when I take Andy to ride. My husband says that she stands in the doorway of her stall until we come back. As soon as she sees us returning, she calls out and comes running to meet us. The other day I looked out my kitchen window and saw that the two horses were laying side by side in the sun. They were so content. I am so thankful that she came to us to be with Andy so he's not alone."
"Typical Minute", now nicknamed "Elliot", was adopted by Diann Mistelske of Burton, Ohio.
"I decided to adopt a horse through ReRun because I wanted to support the efforts of a Thoroughbred rescue organization. I used to break young Thoroughbreds for the track while rehabbing and caring for seasoned racers in the off-season. I was deeply affected by that experience, so when I was ready to find another horse, it was important to me that I go the route of adoption. There are a lot of ex-racehorses with great potential for other disciplines in need of a good home and I knew I could provide one.
I was interested in Elliot initially because he had no retraining yet and I liked his build—I was looking for a prospective sport-horse as a “project.” When I went up to visit Elliot, I knew as soon as I met him that he was the horse I was looking for. He had a very sweet personality and kind eye, which is important; and I was impressed with his willingness to jump poles although he’s never seen them before.
Elliot has been with me for almost two months now and is showing great promise. He is a very quick learner and I think he actually enjoys the challenges of training because he has come a long way in a very short amount of time. And of course, everyone here loves his sweet personality."
"Mr. Meaner" (grey horse) was adopted by Harry Bauer of Gaithersburg, MD.
Dear ReRun,
"You may recall I adopted Mister Meaner in the summer of 2007. We have had a great time together. Last summer and winter we just went trail riding and did some schooling. I started him fox hunting (cubbing) this Sept. and he went out 5 or 6 times and seems to really enjoy it. This is a picture from of our opening hunt (Potomac Hunt) on Nov 1, 2008. We were out over 4 hours and he was wonderful."
"Big Poppy" was adopted by Gwen Robinson of Massachusetts. The pair connected in the summer of 2007.
We received this photo of "Carson Canyon", who was adopted from ReRun by Kate Rupert.
"Hey Laurie!
Hope all is well with you. Here is a picture taken this morning of me and my pal Carson. You can see those OTTBs are so hot. LOL! We love him very much! Have a great day!
Kate"
Hello everyone!
Just had to send pictures of my superstar! We got 2 firsts, 1 second and champion of our division at our first recognized dressage show! we have also a qualifying score for the year end championships! Not bad for playing with the BIG boys! huh?

Here's Wendy Voss' experience with her ReRun horse "Blaze" at our 2009 horse show:
Well yesterday was a dream come true. Not only did the weather hold out, but Blaze and Sarah were amazing! We came home with a first, 2 seconds, a third and a fourth! Everyone was talking about him and everyone wanted his picture. Sarah was in the clouds! Blaze ended up going into a division he had never trained for, schooling hunters. The fences were at 2'6", instead of the 1 foot cross-rails that he got his first in! He was amazing and I was actually crying (surprising, I know!) as they did the course. He was beautiful and ended up second in that class. Blaze is one exhausted horse!
Next year, it will be me! Watching him try his heart out gave me a lot of confidence and made me realize how lucky I am to have gotten such an amazing horse, along with an amazing woman who loves him as much as I do!

“I was fortunate enough to adopt Glitter Mill, now called Parker, on July 19, 2009. In just two short months it is amazing to see the joy he has brought to my students, and vice versa. He won the baby green hunter division with his 4H partner, Jaime, and is now being leased by our 10 year old, Natalie [pictured]. Parker has an amazing talent for adjusting his temperament to each rider. For Jaime, Parker can sometimes resemble the racehorse he once was. But for Natalie, he earned the name Parker because the first time she rode him he parked in the ring and would not move until he was sure she was safe and sound. He continues to care for Natalie when she is riding, and continues to challenge Jaime. I am very lucky to have him as part of our family here at Serenity At Last Farm.”

Hi Felice,
Both Zephyr AND Scorsica arrived safe and sound this morning! At the very last minute, my trainer decided to adopt Scorsica as well. Isn’t that great? As you can see in the photo, he and our baby are getting along just fine. I can’t wait to get Zephyr started in dressage and pleasure riding.
I wanted to tell you what a great organization we think ReRun is. We were so impressed by the care of the horses and the professionalism of your staff. The adoption process was very organized and comprehensive. And most of all, we were really impressed with Diana's horsemanship and riding. It was definitely worth the drive from Maine!
Thanks!
Liv Detrick

Hi Rerun,
I just wanted to let you know how well Seventh Wonder (nickname Taj) is doing. After getting him in April my daughter Megan rode him in a local combined test, where he took first place in his division. We have been working with him all summer with lots of trail riding ( he loves to trail ride). My son ( Mike) has recently returned from the Air Force and decided he would like to ride again, he has been riding Taj everyday. They are entered in the local horse trials in November. This picture is of Mike and Taj schooling.

I think Heart's starting to figure out that I equal carrots because he nickered at me when I came today. I can't, however, take
all the credit though because Kiwi nickers at anyone that looks his direction in hopes that he will get an extra meal so i think he was just following his lead, but it still made me happy. They really have bonded and I am hoping that they will be able to go out togther eventually.
