Here’s your chance to earn your “Horse Lovers” badge!!
All classes include a tour of our farm and a chance to get up close and personal with some of our retired equine athletes.
“A Horse of a Different Color” (basic horsemanship level):

In this class students will learn the “ABC’s” of horses; everything from colors to markings, and even why horses act the way they do. Learn about herd dynamics, nutrition, and grooming.  Get hands-on experience with our demonstration horse. Afterwards, students will create their own special souvenir of their day at the farm!  This class is perfect for those “Horse Lovers” badges.
“Colic: Just a Belly Ache or Something More Serious?”

This class is designed for students with previous horse experience and knowledge. It will introduce participants to the signs, causes, and treatments of colic. Students will learn about vital signs of horses and even be able to get hands-on practice…with the help of our horses. This is a wonderful class for 4-H groups.

Adult Seminars

“Still under construction”
These seminars are designed with the adult horse owner in mind.
Retraining the Off-the-Track Thoroughbred (OTTB): Mind & Body

Looking for an athletic, intelligent, and willing competitor? Then why not try a Thoroughbred? Our equine specialists will introduce participants to the mind of the OTTB and the unique training they received for the racetrack. Participants will also learn how OTTBs learn, what special abilities they have, and how to achieve your goals with them. Join others who already know how wonderful these equine athletes can be no matter what discipline you are involved in.

Caring for Your Aged Equine Companion or Athlete
With advances in medical care and nutrition, our equine friends are living longer. This seminar will provide information you need to help your horses live healthier as well.  Participants will learn about the special needs of geriatric horses—everything from basic wellness programs to urgent medical needs and day-to-day maintenance. We all may be getting older, but we can still stay active and healthy!
